The following book is very useful and informative for those parents or interested parties who want to find out more about the move to secondary school. The book is called
Moving Up- The Experience of First Year Students in Post-Primary Education. Written by Emer Smyth, Selina Mc Coy and Merike Darmody.
It's an excellent read. Take a look also at some of the parents pages on some of the suggested websites. They are full of good ideas and tips.
